Management:

Ian R. Marshall, B.A.S., President
With over 35 years of business experience he provides a wealth of knowledge & skills from his successful careers in banking, health care education and health care product development.
His experience in conducting commerce with a wide variety of Domestic and International businesses has developed a strong core of leadership & communication skill, along with a depth of knowledge in the practical aspects of undertaking commercial trade. Ian is responsible for the day-today management of Hygea as well as its financial, legal, marketing and partner relationships. He is a founding shareholder of Hygea and has been directly involved with the evolution of the research and the integration of the scientific team since the year 2000.

Janet Greenhalgh, Executive Vice-President
As a graduate from Queen's University, Jan has a strong communicator & people skill background, developed from 15 years of experience in managing the day to day operations of both U.S. and Canadian national charities. Her first charity initiative was the result of a personal request by Mr. Gorbachev to develop a charity in Canada focused on children's diseases. Since that time, her experiences on medical missions with the Eisenhower Foundation and also working with pharmaceutical companies to co-ordinate international aid projects, has developed a highly versatile and proactive work ethic. Jan worked with Dr. Charles Beal for over a year, prior to his passing in 2000, to create the vision for the scope of Hygea's research work and has been instrumental in its development, evolution and the knitting together of its highly skilled scientific team. Jan is also a founding director. Her day to day duties include the responsibility for research development co-ordination, implementation and shareholder/university relationship management. jg@hygealife.com

Advisory Board

To assist with its Corporate evolution, governance, patenting processes and market entry, Hygea has initiated an Advisory Board. This board will be composed of specialists from different skill sectors to provide advice to Hygea as it walks along its pathway.


Chris Liggett, Founder and Managing Director of Animal Alternatives Ltd, Surrey U.K., supplying natural and complementary equine and pet health products to veterinarians and animal owners. Chris is also a highly experienced Project and Marketing Manager with extensive strategic, new product development, media, marketing services and promotional design skills. She has worked for over 30 years in the UK Veterinary Animal Health market latterly as a Management Consultant, and formerly in Marketing Management, Product Development and Quality Assurance roles for U.K. divisions for blue-chip multi-national companies: GlaxoSmithKline, American Home Products Inc., and Dalgety Agriculture PLC. She holds an HNC in Applied Biology and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Dorothy Marshall, Executive Director, International Academy Health Education Centre, Practitioner, Advisory Board member to Nuxtraxis (Canada), Director of Optimal Medical Foundation/Childhood Disease Research Foundation & author. As a practitioner who is a proponent of integrated medicine, Dorothy draws upon her 38 years of experience in the health field to provide practical guidance pertaining to both business and consumer issues.

Jo-Ann McArthur, Private consultant in the marketing and advertising industry. Jo-Ann is a proven senior marketing and operations executive with over 20 years of experience in the marketing of packaged goods and image-based general management, marketing, research, sponsorship, strategic planning, database development, broadcast and events management. She is also experienced in regulated industries, media relations and a recognized industry leader in experiential marketing, with her most recent assignment being as President of Pigeon Branding.

Bart Mindszenthy is a media and communications specialist and respected author. He is co-author of the best selling book, Leadership@ Work: How to be an Effective Team Leader Anytime, Anywhere, with Anyone and the sole author of No Surprises: The Crisis Communications Management System. He is a Director of the prestigious Empire Club of Canada and serves on the Royal-Roads University's School of Business Advisory Board.

David Bratton is President of Bratton Consulting Inc., a firm dedicated to delivering high-quality, customer-focused human resources, change management and executive coaching services to local and national markets. Over thirty years of experience as a management consultant and executive coach as well as successful corporate senior management experience. He was Director of Human Resources for London Life Insurance Company prior to becoming an independent management consultant. Published two books, one on HR and one on Change Management and has over one hundred articles to his credit. He has been a freelance columnist for The London Free Press, Business Monday. David sits on the Board of Pacific & Western Bank (TSE:PWC), Canada's ninth largest bank. He is Chair of the Human Resources and Corporate Governance Committee and a member of the Conduct Review Committee. He holds an Honours B.A. in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario; an MBA in Organizational Behaviour from York University's Shulich School of Business and has completed Executive Programs from Harvard and General Electric. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants and serves on the National Board of the Association.

Robert A Brown is President, RJB Canadian Business Services Inc. Founding Director and Honorary Life Member, The Hong Kong-Canada Business Association. Former President, Eastern Canada, Hongkong Bank of Canada (HSBC Bank Canada) and Senior Executive with two other Canadian Banks. A specialist in Market planning and executive management.

It is the intent to add professionals from identified key sectors as Hygea evolves. This process will add value and independent perspectives to the operation and evolution of Hygea.

Dr. John Kelly is the first executive director of MaRS Landing, a joint project partnered by the University of Guelph, the City of Guelph, Ontario Agri-Food Technologies (OAFT), Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the MaRS Discovery District.

He has a wealth of experience in the private and public sector and has held various positions with start-ups and multinational companies, including Land O' Lakes, Ralston Purina, Rhone-Poulenc Canada Inc. and Aventis CropSciences Inc., as well as the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

John works towards removing barriers to growth and improve access to tools and information in the agriculture and food, life science and biotechnology sectors. His primary focus is to foster the rural Ontario connection to the MaRS Discovery District, foster the link of agriculture, food and health, and to work with new, innovative technologies with application in this space. John also builds on the fact that there is more synergy than ever among traditional agriculture, food, medical sciences and manufacturing.
